Canada Goose has been a sponsor of The Berlin International Film Festival for the last few years and has had the privilege of dressing the festival staff in their attire, however this is now to change.
Canada Goose jackets are trimmed with coyote fur which is sourced from trapping the animals using cruel methods. A metal trap is laid down, the coyote walks into the trap and the metal clamp shuts down on the ankle bone, sometimes tearing flesh and causing compound fractures. The animal is left in the elements in pain, fear and distress for many hours until the trapper arrives to dispatch the animal which could be by bullet or sometimes throttling.
PETA informed The Berlin International Film Festival of the methods to which the coyote fur was sourced which led to an immediate cancellation of their sponsorship contract.
Canada Goose still insists that its garments all contain products which are ethically sourced despite the huge backlash against its cruel methods of trapping.
The fight goes on.
