London – In an eye-catching demonstration outside Canada Goose’s new European flagship store, TV wildlife presenter Anneka Svenska and her wolfdog Crystal Kumi posed with a steel trap and a sign reading, “Canines Suffer for Canada Goose.” Their action is part of PETA’s campaign urging the retailer to drop coyote fur and switch to innovative, cruelty-free faux fur.

“Coyotes deserve the same compassion as the four-legged friends with whom many of us share our homes,” says Svenska. “I urge all shoppers to join me in shunning Canada Goose’s cruelly produced coats trimmed with coyote fur.”

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear” – notes that Canada Goose’s fur trim comes from coyotes who are caught in barbaric, bone-crushing steel traps. They can endure horrific injuries and languish for days before eventually dying of hunger, thirst, or blood loss. Some are so desperate to escape that they attempt to chew through their own limbs.
